About Einat Shamshoni
Hi,
I'm an Israeli author, screenwriter, and lecturer. I write stories about people at crossroads - moments of loss, identity, and unexpected discovery - set against the vivid landscape of Israeli life, ancient history, and myth.
My work spans multiple genres: psychological fiction, biblical fantasy, historical fiction, and books for children. What connects them is a commitment to layered, character-driven storytelling rooted in a deep sense of place.
Background
I hold an academic position as a lecturer in Graphic Design at Tzfat Academic College. I have a background in biblical scholarship, ancient Middle Eastern history, and Talmudic literature, which inform the historical and mythological layers of my fiction.
I run the Hebrew literary podcast "Between the Lines" with my sister, a literary editor - a weekly conversation about books, writing, and what lives between them.

The hous pf lost Spirits (2018). Realistic/Mystical Fiction. Sixteen-year-old Noga finds herself after death in an abandoned building between two small Israeli towns, alongside five other ghosts. The novel has been prepared in English translation and is available for representation.
LAAZAZEL (2021). Thriller
A woman in a small Negev community loses her husband and, while trying to rebuild her life, discovers she has barely begun to understand who he was.
A taut, socially engaged thriller that explores protection rackets, crime, and the exposed edges of Israeli society. Currently in development as a television series.
Broken Things (2024). Contemporary Fiction
Keren has every reason to run — from her family in Ashdod, from the role of grieving widow, from the memories chasing her. She packs up her three children and moves to Metula, a quiet pastoral town on Israel's northern border, where an old diary falls into her hands - the story of a woman who lived there a century ago. Different, and yet uncannily familiar.
Tohu (2026). Biblical Fantasy / Historical Fiction
Ela flees her master's household in Jerusalem, But as she escapes one threat, a far greater danger stirs beneath the earth. The ancient seal that has kept the abyss closed for generations has been stolen from the Temple and the world itself faces destruction.
Ela is swept into a war that threatens to drag her back to the very place she fled. She discovers that her fate is bound to the fate of the lost seal, and that the price of redemption may be heavier than anything she could have imagined.
A breathtaking biblical fantasy of survival, faith, betrayal, freedom, and love in a time of chaos.
